Is ” One nation One Education ” a Pressing Need in Indian Education System in 2021 ?

Education is the panacea of the root of all evils . The essence of education is enjoyed by both poor and rich alike . The great quotation of the cyclonic Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda ” Education is the manifestation of perfection already in life ” must be remembered .

The education system of India is as poor as church mouse . This degraded , platitudinous , hollowed , eroded , rotten education system should be revamped , rejuvenated and metamorphosed in no time . The outdated , useless education system of India should be uprooted root and branch .

An education system without any moral ethics and patriotic fragrance is advocating the destruction of a country as well as its countrymen surreptitiously .

But the question often stirs our mind that why the India has multiple education system running unabated without any proper cogent logic . It seems impractical to teach the same thing in different boards . There should be a common platform where the same parameters strictly followed . ” One Nation One Education “is really a crying need today like ” One Nation One Ration Card ” .

The new education policy hopefully proves itself efficacious and a beacon for the prospective future . Higher academic qualification fails to bring the educated their daily breads . Hence job-oriented education is the need of the hour . Let us anatomize the subject of our discussion .

Is ‘ Diversity ‘ Good for India ?

Yes , I strongly believe that ‘ Diversity ‘ is a wonderful concept .

Diversity

Diversity means that each individual , culture , ethnicity ,race , socio- economic status , physical ability , religious beliefs , ideologies is different from each other .

Is ‘ Diversity ‘ good for any particular system ?

No , ‘ Diversity ‘ for any particular system is not at all healthy .

Diversity

There may be multiple thoughts , multiple ethnicity , race culture and beliefs , but , for any particular system ‘ Diversity ‘ proves itself dangerous and unwanted . ‘ Multiplicity ‘ in any specific system is a menace for its users . A unified system is always required for better future .

Why ‘ Diversity ‘ is Unhealthy for a Specific System ?

‘ Multiplicity ‘ or ‘ Diversity ‘ in any particular system is unwanted for the following reasons :-

1 . Brings Multiple Confusion :-

If any system has multiple rules , regulations and thoughts , that invariably generates heterogeneous problems .

reading and comprehension
generates confusion

We also sometimes face such problems and shout for ‘ Simplicity ‘ .

2 . Breeds Corruption :-

‘ Multiplicity’ or ‘ Diversity ‘ in a particular system means that the system is the breeding ground of corruption , because , it would be difficult task for tracking the exact follies and faults .

3 . Impossible Monitoring :-

‘ Diversity ‘ in any particular system is difficult to supervise . Multiple wings of any particular system is hard to follow .

So , for smooth supervision , a unified system is urgently needed .

4 . Progress can’t be Tracked :-

‘ Diversity ‘ in a particular system can not track the progress .

concrete unified system can usher in progress .

How ‘ Diversity ‘ / ‘ Multiplicity ‘ is Unhealthy for Indian Education System :-

Indian education system is infested with various problems due to this ‘ Diversity ‘ / ‘ Multiplicity ‘ and the system should be revamped in on time for India’s better future and for better generation .

The problems are narrated as follows :-

1 . Multiple Boards in a Single Country :-

There are mainly four ( 4 ) boards in the education system . They are ‘ CBSE ‘ , ‘ ICSE ‘ , ‘ IB ‘ and ‘ State Board ‘.

Multiple Boards

CBSE – Central Board of Secondary Education

ICSE – Indian certificate of Secondary Education

IB – International Baccalaureate

State Board – Andhra Board , West Bengal Board , Bihar Board etc.

** There are forty ( 40 ) school Boards in all over India ( According to the database of 2020 )

2 . No Specific Common Curriculum :-

There is no common uniformity in curriculum among all these boards . ICSE is different from CBSE and CBSE is different from all other State Boards .

This ‘ multiplicity ‘ in the education system is not at all healthy for any betterment of the entire education system .

3 . No Specific Age for Admission :-

In some English medium schools of ICSE board , students are admited in standard 1 when s/he completes his / her 5 years .

But actual age of admission as per Government norms is 6 years for standard 1 . In this way confusion generates due to this variety of boards and sometimes guardians get puzzled .

4 . Schools Without any Affiliation :-

This is one of the major issues of ‘ Diversity ‘ in the education system .

May a times a school is opened without taking any affiliation and makes the guardians in the dark . When the guardians know the truth of the non- affiliation about the school , it becomes too late for them to decide what to do next .

In many non – affiliated schools students study from standard 1 to 9 and then that particular school send those students to a distant remote school (Which has affiliation ) at the time of Board examination as they have no affiliation themselves to conduct board examination .

In this way the non-affiliated schools tie up with those affiliated schools clandestinely and are running their schools unabated ages after ages with poor infrastructure .

All these schools have no record in the official register of the council as well as government . All these schools have no registration in ICSE / CBSE Council .

Do we Really Need Such a Huge Number of Board in a Single Education System ?

Certainly not . I don’t think such a multiple number of boards is not at all wanted for a single education system .

This will generate confusion , bafflement and fragmentation .

What is the Ultimate Solution to Get Rid of this Problem ?

To purify and unify the existing system of education the solution can be enumerated as follows :-

1 . A Common Platform / Education system Needed :-

A common curriculum , a common platform , a common education system is urgently needed . Multiple boards means multiple comparison with multiple complexity .

2 . All Boards Must be Merged in One :-

All boards must be joined together in one central Board . That will remove confusion . Through this step oneness and unification could possibly established in the education system .

3 . ‘ Unity in Diversity ‘ Must Be set Up in the Education System :-

A single system of education will establish the eternal truth ‘ Unity in Diversity ‘ . This will wipe out all confusion .

4 . Every Teacher and Every student Must be Given a Code at the time of Joining :-

When a student takes admission in standard 1 , s/he must be given a code . When a teacher joins in any school , s/he must be given a certain government registered code .

Through this code a teacher as well as a student can be well tracked in future and proper database can be maintained .

5 . The Nation Builder must be given his / her due Respect :-

In many cases it is seen that the teachers , the ultimate Nation Builders are worst sufferers ( Except Government Teachers ) .

They are less paid and remain unfed in many cases . Once upon a time the teaching profession was regarded a very noble profession . Those days are gone . Today a teacher , in a private school ( Private school means not only the English medium but also State Board private Medium ) , earns even less than a rickshaw puller . A teacher who has been teaching in a school in India for a long twenty years ( Without any appoint letter and Financial Security ) gets only seven thousand rupees per month . This deplorable condition of the private school teachers brings tears in our eyes .

This situation is clearly exhibited during the ongoing lockdown where a teacher who used to teach in a school , has started to sell vegetables standing on the footpath . ( All work is same but still ……. , somehow looks odd ) . I really feel sorry for their professional transformation . A day is not far away when a country won’t get a suitable teachers because none likes to opt this profession of teaching in future due to their professional degradation .

In this way the bogged down previous Indian education system should be revamped and modified in no time and it is expected that the new education policy will be a torchbearer . Education should not be confined within an amount of marks and a certain amount of paper qualification .

A PhD scholar is applying for the job of a sweeper or a hangman . This often hits the headline of the newspaper . This is a shame and highly ignominious for a country . This should be radically changed immediately .

Education that arranges practical training required for a calling in life is vocational education . Vocational and life based education should be introduced . In a country like India vocationalization of education claims top priority . The government should encourage the youth to go in for vocational education in conjunction with some moral values and patriotic feelings that creates a wider accessibility to vast and varied fields of employment all over the world .

  9. Education is the cornerstone of one’s better future and of becoming a better citizen. But now a days policymakers along with industrialists are undermining education system of our country for personal deeds by upholding multiple education systems running at a time and inaugurating schools and colleges without proper affiliation and firm infrastructure. An unified education system is indeed needed for betterment of our society and for giving every person, rich as well as marginalised, equitable right to education.

  10. Firstly a ton of gratitude to the author IG Sir. Like your other articles you just shown level of expertise through out the article. I am very grateful and lucky to be part of Kolkata’s best online spoken english institute and also to be daily reader of your articles.
This time a topic you have chosen just taken my heart its very needed to be discussed to short out the current pell-mell situation of India’s education system. As your article highlighted upon the fact of diversity of educational boards creating a mess. Students who have money to afford rich education they are choosing private schools because of well structured framework or syllabus along with extracurricular commercial skills like spoken english, public oratory, extempore speech, Coding which are very needed in future. I also think like other top schools if others also maintain same decorum decipline and syllabus under one roof that is under same board our education system have better chance of improvement. Though we indians supplies large amount of Engineer’s, Doctors, Bankers, Financial analyst to the world we have to keep in mind its just a little fraction of our population. We need to produced more and more geniuses so that we also got benefited by utilising them within our country not outside. So our education system must follow one single board with same instructions.

  11. One Nation one education is dream for our country. I DONT NO TI IS POSSIABLE OR NOT BUT IF INDIAN GOVT CAN APPLY THIS SYSTEM IN OUR COUNTRY IT WILL BE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR NEXT GENERATION STUDENTS.IF U SEE IN OUR COUNTRY S EDUCATION SYSTEM I DONT SAY IT IS BAD BUT WE DIVIDED OUR STUDENT S CATAGORY WITH MANY MIDIUM LIKE BENGALI HINDI ENGLISH URDU ETC.THIS TYPE OF MEDIUM IS PROVIDING DIFFERENT STYLE OF STUDY DAY TO DAY IT IS GOING TO PERNICIOUS FOR OUR GENERATION.SOME GREAT PEOPLE OF OUR INDIAN HISTORY LIKE SWAMI VIVEKANANDA,D R KALAM THEY WERE AGAINST OF OUR PRESENT EDUCATION SYSTEM.IF WE COULD APPLY THIS RULES ONE NATION ONE EDUCATION IT WILL BE GREAT FOR OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM.AND WHEN EVERY STUDENT WILL BE GATTING EQUAL KNOWLEDGE FROM ONE NATION WITH ONE EDUCATION THEY WILL BE IMPROVING WITH GREAT JOY.AND OUR INDIA WILL BE GETTING LARGE NUMBERS OF EDUCATED PERSON.

  12. Its really a good idea cus one nation one education system would be helpful for jenaration….. otherwise multiple board system education ruin our future …in these days we all know english is very important subject nd language for these reason every board should be in English medium school ……many english medium students know english veey well but being a Bengali medium students its excusted for them ……many students dominat bengali medium students for there poor communication skill ..so its effects them to there confidence level….

  13. The education system of India is poor mainly due to the aged improper system of curriculum which has been lasting in India over more then 50 years without a little change.Hence, India needs a new change and balance in its system.

  14. The education system plays a very important role for the country. After all India is a diverse country, for that reason each state has a different board for education, but I strongly believe that there should be only one board and the students should be taught in English along with their mother tongue. The government should pay more attention to this, because education is the basic pillar of a nation. If it isn’t provided correctly then in aspect it will shatter the country’s development, which will be very pernicious for the society. Education should be provided to everyone without differentiating any caste. they ofen say in the ads “Padhega tabhi toh badhega India”. Education is like a food, if it is eaten(provided) properly and correctly then the health (development) of the country will be always good.

  15. The presence of different boards in the education system of INDIA indicates discrimination among students and teachers because a Bengali medium Student lags behind in the competition with English medium students due to long study in Bengali medium. It is very shameful for the progress and education system. Secondly, the different rules of different boards such as age limit and inequality in the scope of syllabus are unfortunate for the country and education system. The supreme court should merge all the boards as soon as possible so that it will be happy for the country and for all the students.
